Exciting Participation at MARLOG 2025 in Alexandria, Egypt

From 23-25 February 2025, our team had the privilege of being invited to the prestigious International Maritime Transport and Logistics Conference, MARLOG 14, held in the vibrant city of Alexandria, Egypt. Themed Artificial Intelligence Implementation: Towards Shaping the Future of the Digital World, this renowned event gathered leaders, experts, and innovators from across the global maritime and logistics industries to explore the latest advancements and strategies shaping the future of maritime transport, logistics, and supply chain resilience.

Presenting Our Paper on AI and Supply Chain Resilience

One of the key highlights of our participation was the opportunity to present our research paper titled, "AI and Technology-Enabled Supply Chain Resilience and Security". This paper examines the pivotal role that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies play in strengthening the resilience and security of global supply chains, particularly in an era of increasing disruptions and uncertainties.

MARLOG 2025-1

In A/Prof Goh Puay Guan’s presentation, we showcased innovative AI-driven solutions that enhance supply chain visibility, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency. The session sparked dynamic discussions with fellow researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers, who shared valuable insights on the integration of AI in maritime logistics. The constructive feedback and engaging dialogue moderated by Mr Pino Musolino (President, MEDPorts Association and President & CEO North Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority- Ports of Rome) reinforced the importance of AI-driven resilience strategies in ensuring the robustness of global supply chains.

Networking with Academics and Industry Leaders

Beyond our paper presentation, the conference provided an unparalleled platform for networking with academics, researchers, and industry leaders from the Arab world and beyond. Through in-depth discussions, we explored the latest trends, emerging technologies, and policy developments shaping the maritime transport and logistics sectors, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

MARLOG 2025-2

These engagements opened doors to potential research collaborations and partnerships, further solidifying our commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation in maritime research. The exchange of ideas with thought leaders and practitioners reaffirmed the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in tackling global supply chain challenges.

Global Port Associations Summit

Another exciting aspect of our participation was the invitation to attend the prestigious Global Port Associations Summit. This exclusive gathering brought together port operators from around the world to discuss critical industry issues, share best practices, and explore collaborative solutions for emerging challenges in the port and logistics sectors.

As part of the discussions, we had the opportunity to introduce the Centre for Maritime Studies as a member of the Global Shipping Think Tank Alliance (GSTTA), further establishing our presence in the global maritime research community. The summit provided invaluable insights from leading port operators, offering perspectives on sustainable port operations, digital transformation, and regulatory developments in the industry.

A Memorable Experience in Alexandria

The picturesque city of Alexandria, with its rich historical heritage and forward-thinking innovation, provided an inspiring setting for the conference. Beyond the conference halls, we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the cultural vibrancy and hospitality of the Egyptian people, making our visit a truly memorable experience.

As we reflect on our participation at MARLOG 2025, we are excited about the new opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange that have emerged. The event reinforced our commitment to advancing the role of AI and technology in the global logistics and maritime sectors.

MARLOG 2025-4

Moving forward, we are eager to further explore the integration of AI in supply chain resilience and security. We look forward to sharing our research and insights at future conferences and continuing to contribute to the global discourse on maritime innovation.
