Exploring Singapore's Maritime Legacy and Future
On 29 August 2024, our MSc MTM students embarked on an exciting learning journey, delving deep into Singapore's rich maritime history, its operational intricacies, and the path towards a sustainable maritime future.
The day began at Marina South Pier, where students visited the Singapore Maritime Gallery. With the theme "Past, Present, and Future," they explored Singapore’s transformation into a global maritime hub, discovering how technological advancements have propelled the industry forward while preserving our environment.
Next, the Sea Exploration Tour, themed "Maritime Tomorrow," offered a front-row seat to the bustling Singapore Straits. From the intricate operations at Pasir Panjang Terminal to the pivotal roles of Pulau Bukom and Jurong Island in global trade, the students witnessed how Singapore facilitates international maritime activities. They also learned about sustainable practices, including eco-friendly maritime operations and efforts to protect marine biodiversity.
