ELIGIBILITY AND TEAMS
- Students currently enrolled in any of Singapore's six autonomous universities, junior colleges and Millennia Institute, and polytechnics are eligible to participate.
- Participants must compete in teams from the same school (minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 4 members per team).
- All team names must be in English. Foreign languages or text will not be permitted.
- The organisers reserve the right to reject or request a change of any team names deemed inappropriate, offensive, or otherwise unsuitable.
- In the case of repeating team names, the team that signed up first will retain the name, and the other teams will be required to choose a new one.
REGISTRATION
- All participants must confirm their registration online through the official event form by the registration deadline of 15 November 2024, 11:59 hrs.
- Team members must provide accurate and complete information during registration.
- One submission per team.
- Registration is free, but spaces are limited. Participants will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (IP)
- All submissions must be the original work of the participants.
- Ownership of any IP created during the hackathon is retained jointly by the participants and the organisers.
- By participating, participants grant the organisers and partners the right to use any submission materials (including code, presentations, and media created during the event) for promotional, educational, or showcase purposes.
- Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained herein or under any IP terms, ownership of all IP rights to and in any and all data and information provided by the organisers shall continue to be vested solely in the respective organisers and their licensors. Use of such data and information other than for Maritime Hackathon 2025 shall not be made by participants except with prior written approval of the organisers.
- Participants must agree to the IP terms during the submission of their case papers by checking off a designated acknowledgement.
CONFIDENTIALITY
- Participants must not disclose proprietary or confidential information during and after the hackathon.
- Any data provided by the organisers or partners for use during the hackathon is to be treated as confidential and must not be shared or used outside the event.
CODE OF CONDUCT
- Participants must adhere to a high standard of conduct throughout the hackathon, including but not limited to respect, integrity, and professionalism.
- Any inappropriate behaviour will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Teams must submit their submission by the deadline of 18 January 2025, 09:00 hrs (SGT).
- Submissions must include the following deliverables:
- Case Paper
- Max 4 pages which includes a cover page + a half-page abstract (max 200 words)
- Double spacing, Times New Roman, font size 12
- Supporting Documents (e.g. workings)
- PowerPoint Slides
- Advised 4-6 slides that can present within 10 minutes timeframe
- Late submissions will not be accepted.
- Case Paper
JUDGING CRITERIA
- Projects will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Accuracy: Precision and correctness of the solution.
- Creativity and Innovation: Originality and creativity of the solution.
- Clarity and Effectiveness: Clarity of the project presentation and potential to solve maritime industry challenges.
- The decision of the judges is final and cannot be contested.
PRIZES
- Prizes will be awarded to the top teams based on the judging criteria.

- Prizes are non-transferable and may not be exchanged for other goods or services.
- The distribution of cash prizes among team members is the responsibility of the team leader, and the organisers are not liable for disputes regarding prize division.
- Finalists will be contacted by the organisers after the end of the event.
DISQUALIFICATION
- The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any team or participant found violating these terms and conditions or engaging in any unlawful or unethical behaviour.
LIABILITY
- Participants are responsible for any damage or loss of equipment or data that may occur during the hackathon.
- Participants understand and agree that the organisers shall be entitled to pursue legal action, whether solely or jointly, against any participant that is in breach of his/her obligations in relation to the IP and confidentiality of data and information provided, whether such breach occurred during or after the hackathon.
- The organisers will not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained during or as a result of participation in the event.
AMENDMENTS
- The organisers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time, with notice provided to participants.
