Dr. Christian von der Weth

Senior Lecturer

Dr Christian von der Weth is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore.

He received his PhD from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. Before joining NUS, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Prior to this position as Lecturer, Christian was Senior Research Fellow at the NUS Centre for Research in Privacy Technologies (N-CRiPT). In the NUS School of Computing, Christian teaches courses in the areas of data and text mining, natural language processing, machine learning, and AI.

Energy and the Environment Division at the Energy Studies Institute (ESI), National University of Singapore

SU Bin is Senior Research Fellow and Head of Energy and the Environment Division at the Energy Studies Institute (ESI), National University of Singapore (NUS). He leads the energy modelling programme at the Institute and is Programme Director of the Consortium for “Study on Singapore’s Energy and Decarbonization Pathways”. His research interests include energy and environmental systems modelling and analysis, focusing on energy efficiency, decarbonization pathways, benchmarking, embodied energy/emissions, carbon footprint, carbon pricing, rebound effect and energy resilience.

Dr Su is presently an Editor of Energy Policy, an Associate Editor of Energy Economics, Indonesian Journal of Energy, and Energy and Climate Management, Editorial Board Member and Guest Editor of many international journals. He has published more than 160 papers in reputable international journals, and edited the books on “China’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation”. He has been named in the global “Highly Cited Researchers” lists in year 2018-2024 released by Clarivate Analytics, Top 2% of Scientist (in the Energy field) by the Stanford Study in year 2019-2024, Top 1% of Economists in the World by IDEAS/RePEc Database in year 2021-2024, and Top 1% of Scientists (in Economics and Finance) compiled by Research.com in year 2021-2024. He has managed and participated in more than 30 energy and environment projects funded by government agencies in Singapore.

Rajiv is a Sr Research Fellow in IORA and works healthcare, Maritime Logistics and Supply Chain areas. His primary interest is in bridging the knowledge gap between Researchers and Industry Practitioners.

He has extensive experience in developing OR driven Decision support tools at both startups and established organizations and believes that successful solutions development requires an unique blend of Scientific, Engineering and Communication skills.

Dr. Yuan Xue-Ming

Senior Research Fellow

Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA), National University of Singapore

Dr Yuan Xue-Ming has more than 30 years’ experience in Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics, Stochastic Systems, Models and Algorithms. Xue-Ming has held various positions in China, France and Singapore.
He was a Senior Research Scientist of Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) from 2001 to 2023, Chairman of Mathematics Programme Advisory Committee, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) from 2017 to 2021, Adjunct Associate Professor of National University of Singapore (NUS) since 2007. He has published more than 130 scientific papers, among which over 50 papers appear in scientific flagship journals such as Journal of Applied Probability, Statistics Communications, Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, IIE Transactions, IEEE Transactions, Science in China, etc.
As Principal Investigator, Xue-Ming has initiated and led many competitive research and industry projects in the areas of Demand Forecasting, Inventory Network Modelling and Optimization, Global Supply Chain Management and Optimization, E-Commerce Fulfilment, Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics. Xue-Ming and his team have invented three commercial system solutions: Intelligent Forecasting System (iForecaster), Inventory Optimization System (iOptimizer), and Predictive Inventory Management System (PRIMS), which have been deployed in more than 40 multi-national companies (MNCs) and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). These innovative system solutions can improve the forecasting accuracy up to 30%, reduce the inventory cost up to 25%, enhance the customer service level up to 20%, and shorten the planning time up to 99%. His scientific contributions and achievements have been included in Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering (2003), Marquis Who’s Who in the World (2001, 2018).

A former Microsoft MVP and active member of the online tech community, Marlon’s extensive international experience spans consultancy and product development across multiple sectors.

His entrepreneurial spirit has also led to the establishment of several start-ups in Malta within the Fintech and Gaming industries, where he continues to contribute as a non-executive director. Marlon’s dedication to improving everyday user experiences through cutting-edge software solutions remains at the core of his professional journey.

Manager (GHG Rating), Marine Excellence

Man Mohan is the Manager of Marine Excellence at RightShip Singapore. Starting his career as a seafaring engineer, Man Mohan quickly realized that the randomness of the universe had other plans for him. He transitioned to roles as a Naval Architect, focusing on ship design, and soon found himself in a love-hate relationship with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Determined to break free, he mastered SQL, MATLAB, and Python, proving that even engineers can have a mid-life crisis.

At RightShip, Man Mohan played a pivotal role in the evolution of the GHG Rating in 2023, the industry’s only metric that combines EEDI, EVDI, and EEXI vessel emission intensity indicators into a single A to E rating scale for classifying vessel efficiency. He also contributed extensively to developing a framework that demonstrates the benefits of advanced low friction coatings on vessel surfaces, providing valuable guidelines for the industry. Who knew that reducing friction could be so exciting?

Man Mohan’s current interests lie in integrating Generative AI into maritime products and services, reflecting his commitment to innovation and excellence. When he’s not busy revolutionizing the maritime industry, you can find him pondering the mysteries of the universe and wondering why ships don’t have cup holders.

After obtaining her degree, Haziqah found herself in the geospatial industry and has not looked back since. With a decade of experience, Haziqah is a skilled professional in project management, solution engineering and data science. Currently, she serves as a Geospatial Specialist at RightShip, where she leverages geospatial data to promote sustainability and enhance maritime safety.
Haziqah holds a Master's degree in Applied Geographic Information Systems from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Throughout her career, Haziqah has been dedicated to using geospatial technology for sustainable development. Additionally, she enjoys teaching others the usefulness of geospatial technology, sharing her knowledge and passion with colleagues and the broader community.
