A Day Trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia: Culinary Delights and Adventure Await
During the recent recess week, the MSc MTM students enjoyed an exciting day trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. With a mix of mouth-watering food, shopping, and adrenaline-filled activities, the day was packed with fun and memorable moments. Here’s a recap of their adventure!
Starting the Journey – 9:00 AM at Kranji MRT
The group kicked off the day bright and early, meeting at Kranji MRT Station, buzzing with excitement for the trip ahead. A short bus ride across the border set the tone, filled with lively conversations and anticipation for the day’s activities.
Exploring Jalan Tan Hiok Nee – 10:30 AM
The first stop was Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, a vibrant street where heritage meets modern charm. The students took time to explore the unique blend of traditional architecture and trendy cafes, capturing photos and soaking in the lively atmosphere.
Celebrating Alex’s Birthday at Haidilao Hotpot – 11:20 AM
Next up was a special celebration at Haidilao Hotpot, where the group gathered to celebrate Alex’s birthday. The students savoured an array of soups and fresh ingredients, creating a festive and warm atmosphere. Laughter and birthday toasts filled the air, making the meal a highlight of the day.
Shopping and Fun at Toppen Shopping Centre & Tebrau City Mall – 1:30 PM
After lunch, the group explored the expansive Toppen Shopping Centre and Tebrau City Mall. With plenty of time for shopping and browsing, the students enjoyed a range of stores, from fashion to electronics. The visit also included some playtime at the popular trampoline park, “Jumplah,” where the group had a blast jumping around and unleashing their inner child.
Adrenaline Rush at GT Karting – 4:45 PM
For those seeking a thrill, GT Karting was the perfect next stop. The students donned their racing gear and hit the track for some friendly competition. The go-kart race was packed with excitement as they sped around the course, each aiming for the fastest lap. It was an exhilarating experience that left everyone buzzing with energy!
Wrapping Up with Local Cuisine – 6:30 PM
To wind down, the group gathered for a dinner of authentic Malaysian cuisine, enjoying classics like chicken satay, nasi lemak, and rojak. It was a perfect opportunity to reflect on the day’s highlights and share stories from the day’s adventures over a delicious meal.
Heading Home – 8:40 PM
As the day came to a close, the students returned to Singapore, filled with smiles and satisfied from a day well spent. Though tired, the group left Johor Bahru with lasting memories and a sense of camaraderie that made the trip truly special.
