The maritime industry is currently undergoing a significant decarbonisation transition, driven by mandatory regulations from the IMO and EU ETS. During the lecture delivered by ABS officers, I gained a deeper understanding of the advanced techniques ABS is implementing to help reduce vessels' GHG emissions. These include Hybrid Power Systems, Wind-assisted Propulsion Systems, Alternative Fuels such as LNG, Green Methanol, Ammonia, and other biofuels, as well as Carbon Capture System installations. Coupled with my previous internship at Maersk, where my daily tasks were related to the sustainability of the shipping industry, this lecture truly broadened my knowledge and opened my eyes to the innovations within the sector. It was an invaluable experience, and I am deeply grateful to ABS for offering MTM students such a remarkable opportunity to learn.
